Accessing the device page in the app
To operate your Smart Pet Door manually you must be on the device page in the mobile app. In the Wayzn app, from the home page, select the tile for the Wayzn device you wish to configure by clicking on it. After selecting the device you will be taken to the device page.
Changing the device name
You can customize the name of your device if desired. This is done from the mobile app home page.
To name a device, hold your finger on the device tile until the "Name your Wayzn" window appears. Enter your desired name and press the "Save" button to complete the process. You can change a device name as often as desired.
Device location (Home and Away modes)
In addition to letting you control the door, the device page is where you will find the device location setting. The Wayzn Smart Pet Door device has two different location modes, "Home" and "Away", and the device behaves differently depending on which mode it is in at the time. The device owner, or any additional user, can manually toggle the device location mode anytime.
A few things to note about device location:
- If desired, you can set the app to automatically detect when any device users are home.
- The Alexa integration will not operate when your Smart Pet Door is in "Away" mode.
- Motion detection and Wayzn Pet Tag have separate settings for each location.
Opening and closing the door
When the door is closed (or closing), you can open it using the app or by pressing the physical button on the device itself (if enabled in settings).
To open the door using the app, you can press either the "Open" button or the "Open Then Close" button.
Pressing the "Open" button will cause the Smart Pet Door to retract and open the door. Using this button, the door will remain open until you take additional steps to close it. The Smart Pet Door will always open as far as physically possible to provide the largest opening width unless you choose to restrict the opening width by setting the inches to open on the device settings page.
Pressing the "Open Then Close" button will also cause the Smart Pet Door to retract and open the door. However, when using this button, the door will not remain open. Instead, it will pause after opening, then it will attempt to close with no further action required from the user. You can adjust the time to remain open on the device settings page in the app.
Closing, obstructions, and retries
When the door is open (or opening), you can close it using the app or by pressing the physical button on the device itself (if enabled in settings).
To close the door using the app, press the "Close" button on the device page.
When closing the door, The Smart Pet Door constantly checks for potential obstructions. It monitors how much effort is required and it scans for heat in the doorway. If it thinks there may be an obstruction it will immediately stop closing the door, open it, then try two more times to close the door.
If you experience a situation where the door is having trouble closing, please follow these steps to diagnose and resolve unexpected obstructions while closing.
Next, you'll want to configure the motion detection settings.
